Superior
Structure being closer to the head or higher than another structure.
Inferior
Structure being closer to the feet or lower than another structure.
Anterior
Structure being more in front of another structure.
Posterior
Structure being more in back of another structure.
Medial
Structure being closer to midline than other structures.
Lateral
Structure being further away from midline than other structures.
Distal
Structure further away from root of limb than other structures.
Superficial
Structure being closer to surface of the body than other structures.
Proximal
Structure being closer to root of limb than other structures.
Deep
Structure being closer to core of the body than other structures.
Ventral
Toward the belly.
Prone
Lying face down.
