ANAT Lab Session 12 Flashcards
Femoral triangle
Inguinal ligament, medial border of the sartorius muscle and the lateral border of the adductor longus
At the base of the femoral triangle is a sulcus. What occupies this space?
Femoral artery and vein
First step towards the dissection today is to preserve a vein. What is the vain and why is it so important?
Great Saphenous vein that junctions with the femoral vein in the fossa ovalis.
Used for grafting veins when needed
What occurs at the fossa ovalis?
This is where the great saphenous vein empties into the femoral vein
What is the nerve of the anterior compartment of the thigh?
Femoral nerve
What is the nerve of the medial compartment of the thigh?
Obturator nerve
Components of the quadriceps?
Rectus femoris
Vastus medialis
Vastus intermedius
Vastus Lateralis
Muscles of the medial compartment of the thigh?
Pectineus
Adductor Brevis
Adductor Longus
Adductor Magnus
What is the adductor hiatus?
Opening in the adductor magnus muscle for the femoral artery
What is the subsartorial canal of Hunter?
Canal through which the femoral artery courses in the anterior thigh
The anterior and posterior divisions of the obturator nerve are separated by what?
The adductor brevis
