ANAT Book Flashcards
The scapula and the clavicle articulate at the
acromioclavicular joint
the clavicle articulates with the trunk at the
sternoclavicular joint
the scapula articulates with the humerus at
glenohumeral joint
the forearm articulates with carpus ta the wrist
radiocarpal joint
the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the shoulder region are supplied by the
subclavicular nerves, whereas the cutaneous supply of the remainder of the upper limb is derived from the brachial plexus
Cutaneous nerves of arm
- Upper lateral
- Lower lateral
- Posterior
- Medial
Cutaneous nerves of the forearm
- Lateral
- Posterior
- Medial
The axillary artery is continuous
with the subclavian artery which derives from the the brachiocephalic trunk
Deltoid
Has attachment to the lateral third of the clavicle and to the acromion and spine of the scapula and attaches to the deltoid tuberosity of the humerus. Detoild acts only on the shoulder joint, where it acts as an abductor. deltoid is supplied by the axillary nerve,
Cephalic vein lies in the
deltopectoral groove
Axillary nerve
supplies the deltoid, teres minor, the shoulder joint, and skin.
Damage to the axillary nerve may occur during
dislocation of the shoulder joint, resulting in weakness of abduction, impaired sensation
the anterior compartment of the arm contains three muscles
biceps brachii, corabrachialis, brachialis
the three muscles of the anterior compartment are supplied by the
musculocutaneous nerve
The two heads of the biceps seperate proximally and have tendinous attachment to the scapula.
The short head lies medially and attaches to the tip of the coracoid process. the tendon of the long head attaches to the supraglenoid tubercle
