  • corticosteroids & immunosuppresion
  • smoking
  • alcohol
  • DM
  • obesity

Surgical factors

  • Emergency surgeries
  • Longer intra-operative time
  • peritoneal contamination
  • oesophageal-gastric or rectal anastomosis
