Analytical Reading - First Stage Flashcards
What sort of book is it?
This is a practical book presenting a toolkit for developing “Charisma”.
What is the book about?
The book argues that Charisma can be learnt and provides a method to do so.
What are the major parts of the book?
The book starts by presenting the base of charismatic behavior: Presence, Power and Warmth. It then proceeds to identify the obstacles to these three requirements and offers solutions to overcome these obstacles (Ch.4). The following chapters (5-12) illustrate the use of charisma in specific settings. The book closes with the risks that come with the use of charisma.
What is the problem the author is trying to solve?
Charisma is necessary to generate compliance and excitement in an organisation. Yet, it is not natural, nor is taught. OFC provides a toolkit grounded in a theoretical framework to develop that skill.
