Analytical Methods Flashcards
What are the 3 types of queries?
Attribute, Spatial, Location
What does Clementini do?
If the feature sits entirely on the boundary of the selecting feature, it will not be selected.
Overlay analysis works on which type of logic?
Boolean
What is overlay analysis commonly used for?
-Risk assessment
-Suitability site analysis
How do you convert DMS to DD?
Divide minutes by 60, divide seconds by 3600, then add them together.
How do you convert DD to DMS?
Multiply the decimal by 60 to determine minutes, then multiply the decimal result from the minutes by 60 to determine seconds
How many radians are there in a circle?
2π radians
What is variance?
The average of the squared differences from the mean
What is Tobler’s First Law of Geography?
-Everything is related to everything else but near things are more related than distant things
-Described numerically with autocorrelation
What does Moran’s Index measure?
Measures spatial autocorrelation
(zero means no spatial correlation, positive means similar values are clustered, negative means dissimilar values are clustered)
What is the range for the Correlation Coefficient and what do they mean?
-Range from -1 to 1
-Close to 0 means low correlation
-Close to +/-1, high correlation
What is R-squared?
-Coefficient of determination
-Same as correlation coefficient but ranges from 0-1 as a result of being squared to give a percentage of variation
What is the Modifiable Aerial Unit Problem (MUAP)?
Occurs during the spatial analysis of aggregated data in which the results differ when the same analysis is applied to the same data but different aggregation schemes are used.
