Do strong acids fully or partially ionise in solution?
fully
Do weak acids fully or partially ionise in solution?
partially
How do we test for weak/strong acids?
add magnesium, strong acids fizz a lot
What does a titration measure?
concentration of an unknown acid
What is the method of a titration? (5)
1) fill burette with alkali
2) put 25cm3 of acid in flask (pipette)
3) add indicator
4) add alkali to acid whilst swirling
5) stop when indicator changes colour
What is a reversible reaction?
go forwards and backwards until they reach equilibrium
What is equilibrium?
when the forwards reaction=the backwards reaction
At equilibrium, what do the amount of chemicals on each side do?
remain constant
