Anaesthetics. Flashcards
What two factors effect delivery to tissues from the perspective of breathing (anaethetic machine)?
oxygenation and ventilation.
What are the two different components of oxygenation on an anaesthetic machine?
MAP and FiO2
What are the components of MAP on an anaesthetic machine?
PEEP, PIP and Ti
What are the components of ventilation on an anaesthetic machine?
tidal volume and rate.
What are the two anaesthetic components of tidal volume?
PEEP and PIP.
How can we alter an anaesthetic machine to help acidosis?
You want them to blow off more CO2 so:
increase rate, increase PIP and decrease Peep.
How can we alter an anaesthetic machine to help alkalosis?
You want them to retain more CO2 so:
decrease rate, decrease PIP and increase Peep.
What is normal K, Na and water requirements a day?
normal daily sodium requirement is approximately 2mmol/kg.
Water is 25-30ml/kg, hence 2 litres for a 70kg man
K is 1mmol/kg
