Q

Explain the process of Ethanol Fermentation

A
  1. Glucose is converted into pyruvate through glycolysis.
  2. Pyruvate is then converted into acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide.
  3. Acetaldehyde is further reduced to ethanol, regenerating NAD+ for glycolysis to continue.

Q

Explain the process of Lactic Acid Fermentation

A
  1. Glucose is converted into pyruvate through glycolysis.
  2. Pyruvate is directly reduced to form lactate (lactic acid), regenerating NAD+ for glycolysis.
These fermentation processes occur in the absence of oxygen to regenerate NAD+ for glycolysis to continue
