General Reginald Dyer.
How many soldiers were lead?
OF some 1,000.

It was Baisakhi Day.
How many rounds were fired into the crowd?
1,650 rounds of live ammunition.
How many were killed and wounded?
Around 400 were killed with 1,500 wounded.

His superior officer, General William Beynon
What did Dyer have his eyes set on after the massacre?
The implementation of Martial Law.
What was the implementation of Martial Law for?
To humiliate the Indians living in Amritsar.
What were examples of humiliation brought upon the Indians?
If you had passed a European you had to Bow and greet formally,

What punishment was viewed as treacherous, with some arguing it was more infuriating than the massacre itself?

What was the Crawling Order?
It was if anyone wished to cross through the area where Marica Sherwood was assaulted, you’d have to crawl on all 4s on the much and dirt of the ground.

A narrow passage, the same passage where Marica Sherwood was left for dead.
What was the impact of the Amritsar Massacre once information landed in Britain?
Although information was slow to arrive in Britain, It was quick to divide public opinion. For example the House of Commons and Lords were opposed in opinion.
What were the split opinions on Dyer and his actions?
Some saw Dyer as a brave and courageous upholder of the Raj whereas others felt Dyer destroyed all possibility of a stable connection between the Raj and indian nationalists.
