What do amphetamines do?
Stimulate release of neurotransmitters from the brain and sympathetic nervous system (peripheral nerve terminals). They usually cause euphoria and alertness but they can also cause sleeplessness, restlessness, tremors, and irritability
What is the effect of amphetamines to the cardiovascular system?
Increased heart rate, palpitations, cardiac dysrhythmias, and increased blood pressure can result form continuous use of amphetamines
What decreases the half-life of amphetamines?
Acidic urine
Amphetamines are usually prescribed for which patients?
Patients who are narcoleptic and in some cases for ADHD
What other drugs are used to control ADHD?

Restlessness, insomnia, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, and impotence
