What is Amplitude’s mission?
We help companies build better products providing product analytics to get a deeper understanding of how users behave and what they’re doing in their product
What is an event stream?
A logical series of events in a user journey
What are Events?
Events are behavioral actions of users
What is a new user?
Users are “new” on the first day of their earliest event, which is the first time Amp sees the user
What is event property?
An event property reflects more detailed information about an event at the time it was tracked
What is user property?
A user property reflects traits about the individual person using your app
What are the 3 critical identifiers used for processing a user?
Device ID, User ID (optional), and Amplitude ID (internal ID generated from Device and User IDs)
What is an active user?
By default, an active user is a user who has logged at least one event during your selected interval: real-time (five minutes), hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly.
What is a unique user?
A distinct individual to whom events are attributed.
What is a session?
A period of time that a user has your app in the foreground. By default, events within five minutes of each other are combined into a single session on a mobile app. On web, events within 30 minutes of each other are combined into a single session.
What is behavioral cohort?
A set of users with shared behaviors and properties, e.g. users who have made at least five purchases within the last 30 days.
What is retention?
Measures how often your users are returning to your app over some timeframe.
What is funnel?
A customized series of events a user goes through to successfully do something in your app, such as successful onboarding.
What is stickiness?
Measures the number of different days/weeks a user performs an event in each week/month interval.
