Anterograde amnesia(a memory condition that means new long-term memories cannot be made; this is typical caused by injury to the brain)
Retrograde amnesia (a memory condition that affects recall of memories prior to an injury to the brain)

A
Memory loss, often through accident disease or injury.

Anterograde amnesia
A
- Inability to store any new long- term memory following a brain injury
- intact short - term memory
- can process sensory information in moment of time
- unable to lay down any new memories that last beyond a few memories
- ability to transfer STM to LTM is damaged
- can retain memory from before injury

Retrograde amnesia
A
- Cannot remember information from before brain injury
- can be specific to one memory
- people can forget who they are, and where they ore from in some cases
- possible for people to regain some or all of their lost memory

Henry molaison
A
- underwent brain surgery to relive seizures
- hippocampus was damaged during surgery
- suffer from anterograde amnesia so he could not lag down memories
- Suffered from retrograde amnesia as he could recall childhood events but lost ability to recall few years before his surgery
