Anterograde amnesia

A
  • Inability to store any new long- term memory following a brain injury
  • intact short - term memory
  • can process sensory information in moment of time
  • unable to lay down any new memories that last beyond a few memories
  • ability to transfer STM to LTM is damaged
  • can retain memory from before injury

A
  • Cannot remember information from before brain injury
  • can be specific to one memory
  • people can forget who they are, and where they ore from in some cases
  • possible for people to regain some or all of their lost memory

A
  • underwent brain surgery to relive seizures
  • hippocampus was damaged during surgery
  • suffer from anterograde amnesia so he could not lag down memories
  • Suffered from retrograde amnesia as he could recall childhood events but lost ability to recall few years before his surgery
