ACTION: Antiarrhythmic

• Antiarrhythmic that slows conduction and lengthens the cardiac action potential resulting in suppression of ventricular and supraventricular tachycardias.

INDICATIONS:

• Wide complex ventricular tachycardia with a regular rhythm

  • Adult
    • Stable w/ regular rhythm
  • Ped
    • If stable (with pulses and good perfusion)
    • Consult with Base Physician for Amiodarone
  • Adult: Pulseless VT/VF / PED: Pulseless Arrest VT/VF
    • After 3rd SHOCK

  • Sinus node dysfunction or sinus bradycardia
  • 2nd or 3rd degree block
  • Known hypersensitivity from past exposur

ADULT DOSE/ROUTE:

ADULT DOSE/ROUTE:

  • Pulseless VT/VF:
    • After 3rd SHOCK
      • +Amiodarone 300 mg IV/ IO
        • Repeat Epinephrine 0.1mg/mL;
          • 1 mg IV/ IO Q 10 minutes, up to 3 doses
      • Amiodarone 150 mg IV/ IO
        • 3-5 minutes after 1st dose
  • Wide complex ventricular tachycardia with a regular rhythm
    • Drip: 150 mg in 100 ml D5W give over 10 mins. (= 100 gtts/min with 10 gtts/ml tubing)

PEDIATRIC DOSE/ROUTE:

  • DRIP:
    • 5 mg/kg

Mix in 100mL D5W Give over 20-60 min. (50 to 17 gtts/min.) 10 gtts/ml tubing

  • VF or pulseless VT only:
    • 5 mg/kg IVP or IO bolus.
  • Wide Complex Tachycardia:
    • Consult with Base Physician for Amiodarone
      5 mg/kg IV/IO. Over 20-60 minutes

(Maximum dose 300 mg)
