The government creates jobs by spending money
Once workers earn wages, they start buying goods

Lent money to farmers who couldn’t keep up with loan payments

Paid farmers to produce less - food prices rose and farmers income increased

National Recovery Administration
What was the NRA?
Encouraged young workers and employers to work out a code of fair conditions and pay

Tennessee Valley Authority
What was the TVA?
Provided work building dams and electric power stations along the Tennessee River area

What does the HOLC do?
Gave loans to people struggling to pay their mortgages

Civilian Conservation Corps
What does the CCC do?
Put jobless 18-25 year olds to work in the country side creating 2.5 million jobs

Civil Works Administration

Provided temporary jobs for 4 million people, building schools, airports and roads
