Amendment 6: Rights when accused of a crime
Rights to a speedy public trial, impartial jury, told what crime they are being accused of, witnesses in their favor, rights to a lawyer, and to be confronted with witnesses against them

Amendment 7: Rights to a jury trial
A disagreement needs to be at the value of at least $20 before moving to court, rights to a jury trial

Cannot have exccesive bail/fines or cruel and unusual punishments

When was Tinker vs. Des Moines?
1965
What happened in the Tinker vs. Des Moines case?
Students started to protest the Vietnam War at Des Moines school by wearing a black armband. School officials made a policy that they had to remove the arm band. Mary Beth Tinker, John Tinker, and Christopher Eckhardt were suspended for wearing armbands even after they knew about the policy.
What Amendment did the students at Des Moines school say the school had violated?
The First one. They said it violated their freedom of expression.
What was the outcome of Tinker vs. Des Moines case?
The federal court ruled that Tinker won. The school must be able to prove that the armbands actually disrupted learning.
What does Amendment 1 protect?
Free speech, free religion, freedom of press, right to peacefully assemble (protest), and right to petition to government for a redress of grievances
What does Amendment 2 protect?
A militia can be formed if necessary and citizens have the right to bear arms
What does Amendment 3 protect?
No home owner can be forced to house a soldier, unless they give their consent
What does Amendment 4 protect?
People shall be able to feel secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects (possessions). Citizens are protected against unreasonable searches and seizures.
