ALSS/EGRESS Flashcards
EAWS
PPE
flight suit, boots, anti-g suit, helmet, survival radio/beacon, gloves, ID tags, knife, personnel survival kit, signal device, flashlight, life preserver, and eye protection
Environmental Control 12 Sub Systems
bleed air control, bleed air leak detection, air cycle conditioning, cabin cooling/defog, avionics cooling, cabin pressurization, anti-g vent, OBOGS, windshield anti-ice/rain removal, radar liquid cooling, canopy seal, and wave guide pressurization
Oxygen Mask
MBU-23 and MBU-12 ; provides breathing at a pressure schedule dependent upon altitude
Oxygen Regulator
CRU-103/p ; provides oxygen to aircrew
Life Preserver
LPU-32/p ; flotation
Anti-g Suit
fire resistant cloth
Egress Seat Checkout Certification Program
familiarize working in and around cockpit with ejection seat and special hazard associated with those systems
Ejection Seat
seat for the aircrew
Hypoxia
an absence of enough oxygen int the tissues to sustain bodily functions
Anoxia
an absence of oxygen; a death
2 Types of Aviation Breathing Oxygen
gas and liquid
Dry Bay Fire Suppression System
suppresses fire events associated with ballistic damage to the aircraft before a significant fire occurs
Parachute Harness Sensing Release Unit
activated with salt water; separates the parachute from the aircrew
A/A24A-56 Helmet Unit
joint helmet mounted queuing system
Helmet Mounted Display Unit
symbology projected on the visor and superimposed in the operations view
Normal Operation pertaining to the canopy system
opened and closed by electrical means using an external canopy control switch or an internal control switch
Emergency Operation pertaining to the canopy system
provides the capability to explosively jettison the copy from the aircraft in case of emergency
Fire Detection System
provides pilot with audible and visual warnings of fire or overheat conditions
Fire Distinguishing System
single fire extinguisher tank, 3 distribution lines; the system is a one shot, one bad system
Bleed Air System
connect system control valves and sensors
Air Cycle Air Conditioning System
cools and conditions engine bleed air system for use in ECS and other systems
Anti-Gravity System (Anti-g)
delivers and regulates air pressure to the anti-g suit which reduces the fatiguing effect of exposure to positive and negative g-forces
On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS)
regulates pressure, control flow, distribute oxygen to the crew system
Ejection Seat System
operated by ballistic gas pressure, produced by ejection seat initiators that fire when the ejection control handle is pulled
Canopy System
emergency canopy removal, provides capability to explosively jettison the canopy from the aircraft in case of emergency
Emergency Oxygen System
seat pan; 100 cubic inch emergency oxygen cylinder, a pressure reducer and associated piping are mounted on the underside of the platform
Safety Precautions of Ejection Seat
contains ballistic pressure in left and right cartridges
Safety Precautions of Canopy Operations
if electrical power is unavailable or when electrical control fails, manual controls are used
Safety Precautions of Canopy Jettison System
canopy JETT lever initiates automatic jettison of the canopy without initiating seat ejection
