MOA of Alpha 1 Blockers
A
- Blockage of alpha 1 - induced vasoconstriction (onset of action is about 7-14 days)
- Decrease afterload
- Decrease total cholesterol: Increase HDL, decrease TG, and decrease LDL

ADEs of Alpha 1 Blockers

- 1st dose phoenomenon: sig orthostatic hypotension
- Can cause floppy iris syndrome

CI of Alpha 1 Blockers

- Prostate cancer (masks symptoms)
- Serious HYPOTN if use with ED drugs
