What is an alloy?
A
An alloy is a substance formed when a metal is mixed with other metals and or non-metals.

What are the 3 reasons alloys are preferred over pure metals?
A
It lowers the melting point of the metal so it can be easily worked, increases corrosion resistance, and decreases malleability and ductility of the metal thus increasing the strength, hardness and toughness of the metal.
