atopy
What is the atopic triad in children/
Eczema >allergic rhinitis > asthma
Term: Swelling of dermis; hives; round welts or wheels; can be chronic or acute; can be associated with allergic rxn
urticaria
Term: swelling below dermis; bad signs; itchy but not painful; antihistamine or oral steroid or epinephrine
angioedema
Term: IgE receptors activate mast cells and basophils that overwhelm the body and cause shock; caused by Bug sting, drugs, food
anaphylaxis
Name that allergic condition: Presentation around 3y/o, pruritis of nose (crease on nose), nasal congestion, PND, irritability, sleep disturbances, impaired school performance
allergic rhinitis
Name that allergic condition: Highly pruritic or itchy skin; between 0-6 months skin finding start, on cheeks first then arms and legs, dry, itchy, raised hyperpigmented irregular patches; 40% of children with this have food allergies; As children age its mainly behind knees or inside elbow crease

Treatment for allergic rhinitis?
inhaled corticosteroids or antihistamines
TX for this allergic skin condition is short lukewarm baths less than 20min, hydration of the skin with thick creams 2-3x per day on patches, avoid irritants, do elimination diet; corticosteroids for sx tx
eczema
Name that allergic condition: immune rxn to food protein; Present with dizziness, tachycardia, hives, urticaria, swelling of skin in lips or eyes (angioedema), nasal congestion, cough, wheeze, vomiting, diarrhea
