A

POG- Complaints of rack renting, up 30%
14th article had complaints over taxes

Western- Against Sheep and Cloth tax as well as Clergy enriching themselves with Church land

Kett- Wheat prices up 50% in 1548, enclosure

Wyatt- Decline of cloth trade and rising unemployment

Political Causes

A
  • POG- becomes rebelion against the king following act of supremacy 1534 thus political, anger towards Cromwell too

Wyatt- Xenophobia of foreign power, Wyatt claimed the rebellion was motivated by wanting better counsel for the Queen- One rebel said -fear we would be over run by strangers’

Northern Earls- Influence of Northern earls in decline, wanted to see a return to power during wars of roses, also very against Cecil
