A
Hydrocarbons with a double bond
They are unsaturated as they can make more then one bond

How do halogens react with alkenes
A
To form haloalkanes
It is an addition reaction as the C=C double bond is split and a halogen atom is added to each of the carbons

How can you test for a C=C double bond
A
Add an alkene to a test tube filled with bromine water
Gently shake
If an alkene is present then the solution will go colourless
