Q

What are the lobule of the liver composed of?

A

Hepatocytes

Spaces between each lobule edge forms a triangular shape, these are known as portal spaces

Q

How does blood move through liver lobules?

A

Blood is initially distributed to portal spaces between lobules
Then diffuses into sinusoids
Blood moves through these and is filtered into the central vein in the middle of each cell
Central veins eventually merge to form the hepatic vein
These further merge to form inferior vena cava

Q

Where is the liver found in the abdominal cavity?

A

Right hypochondrium

Sheltered by ribs and costal muscles

17
Q

How can you indicate pathology of liver?

A

Via percussion

Liver will indicate pathology if it goes a dull sound
