ALGEBRA Flashcards
Any number after the first is obtained by adding a fixed number to the one immediate preceding it
Arithmetic Progression
Fixed number added in an arithmetic progressions
Common Difference
Any number after the first is obtained by multiplying a fixed number to the one immediately preceding it.
Geometric Progression
The fixed number multiplied in a geometric progression
Common Ratio
A geometric progression un which -1<=r<=1, r is not equal to 0, and n approaches positive infinity
Infinite Geometric Progression
An arrangement of objects in a definite order
Permutation
Does not involve the arrangement of objects nor the order of selection
Combination
Events impossible for more than one of them to happen in a single trial
Mutually Exclusive Events
If the happening of one does not affect the probability of happening of the other
Independent Events
If the happening of one affects the probability of happening of the other
Dependent Events
Which distribution:
Each trial has more than two possible outcomes
Multinomial Probability Distribution
Which distribution:
A trial is repeated until success occurs
Geometric Distribution
Which distribution:
A trial is repeated until a fixed number of successes occurs
Negative Binomial Distribution
Experiments yielding number of outcomes during a given time interval or in a specified region
Poisson Experiments
