A depressant is a drug that slows brain and body reactions.

Family, Peers, and Media.
Alcohols effect on the body.
Cardiovascular system- heart rate and blood pressure increases.
Excretory System- lose more water from the body then normal causing dehydration.
Nervous System- Brain activity slows and Coordination becomes impaired.
Digestive System- too much alcohol may cause throwing up.
What is alcohol’s effect on behaviors?
Loss of judgment.
Loss of Self-Control
Decrease in drinker’s fears.
Risks of drinking?
Being killed or injured in a motor vehicle accident…
Overdose can cause heart heart and breathing to stop…
Interactions with other drugs.
Being the victim of sexual assault or other violence.
Problems with alcohol later in life..
Loss of Family and Friends.
Loss of jobs…
What is a Blackout?
A period of time a drinker cannot recall..
Long term effects on body…
