Other sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, & MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS may increase the toxicity of this medication. May worked hypokalemia and/or changes caused by non-potassium sparing diuretics. May decrease serum digoxin levels.
In which patients is albuterol sulfate contraindicated?
Patients hypersensitive to ANY component. Use caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, HTN, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, and in nursing/pregnant persons. Do not use with Proventil Solution (can cause paradoxical bronchospasm)
What are the adverse effects of albuterol sulfate?
nausea/vomiting, nervousness, headache, insomnia, tremor, dizziness, hypertension, tachycardia, and palpitations.
What should the RPh say to the patient about albuterol sulfate?
Avoid contact with the eyes, shake canister well, clean mouthpiece Qweek.
