Bronchodilation (beta two agonist)

Sympathomimetic Bronchodilator

• Has less cardiac effects than EPI
• Lowers mucus secretion
  -Lowers pulmonary edema during allergic reaction
• Lowers pulmonary capillary leaking

Albuterol contraindications

-Pregnancy ( except in life threatening situation)

-hypersensitivity to the drug (patient over response)

-Patient is not responsive enough to use the device

-Max has already been given prior to your arrival

MDI: 1-2 puffs every 2 minutes or so with MC permission

Nebulizer: 2.5mg/3ml NS PRN

• must monitor lungs and vitals
