A

Difficulty in breathing, speaking or coughing.

What to do for a choking adult/child.

A

1) Ask if they are choking so that if they can speak it might clear their throat p.
2)Encourage them to cough obstruction out.
3) Give 5 sharp back blows.
4) squeeze it out using abdominal thrusts.
5) Dial 999 and repeat steps 3/4

A

1) Help them lean forwards with one supporting arm under their body.
2) Use other hand to give them five back blows between shoulder blades
3) Check if anything is in their mouth

How to do abdominal thrusts.

A

1) Stand behind them and put your hands around their waist.
2) Place one hand in a fist between their belly button and the bottom of their chest.
3)with your other hand, grasp your fist and pull sharply inwards 5 times.
4)check their mouth after each thrust.

A

1)Lay the baby down along your forearm and thigh face down.
2)give 5 back blows
3) Turn baby over
4) Put 2 fingers on the centre of chest and give chest thrusts.
5) check mouth afternoon very thrust
6) if not clear call 999.

What to do for an asthma attack

A

1) Reassure casualty
2) Ask them to take their dose of inhaler
3) If no inhaler call 999
4) sit them down
5)if they don’t improve within a few minutes, ask them to puff every 30 seconds
6)call 999 if severity increases
