Albuterol and epinephrine
What is the adult dose of albuterol?
2.5-5 mg q 20 mins (3 doses max)
What is the paediatric dose of albuterol?
0.15 mg/kg q 20 mins NEB prn (max 3 doses).
What is the pregnancy class for albuterol/ipratropium, racemic epi, solu-medrol, and solu-cortef?
Class C
What are some contraindications for albuterol?
Known sensitivity and angioedema
Use in caution with lactating/breastfeeding females, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiovascular disorders
What is the adult dose for ipratropium?
0.5 mg q 6-8 hrs NEB prn (used with albuterol)
Name some contraindications/ considerations for combivent
Allergies/sensitivities to soybeans, peanuts, or atropine derivatives
caution if Closed-angle glaucoma, HTN, angina, cardiac dysrhythmias, tachycardia, long QT.
What are the classes for albuterol/ipratropium
Beta adrenergic agonist (bronchodilator) and anticholinergic
What is the paediatric dose of Ipratropium
(Up to 14 years) 0.25 mg q 20 mins NEB prn (max 3 doses)
What is the class for Solu-medrol and solu-cortef?
Corticosteroid (reduces inflammation)
What is the adult dose for solu-medrol when used for asthma/COPD?
(40-80 mg IVP)
125 -250 mg IVP q 6 hrs
What is the dosage for solu-medrol when used for anaphylaxis?
Loading: 1-2 mg/kg IV
Maintanence: 0.5-1 mg/kg q 6 hrs
(NOTE: Adult/Peds dose same)
What are some contraindications for solu-medrol?
Cushing’s syndrome,
Sensitivity to sulfa drugs,
Infxs such as varicella, fungal infx, and measles
What is the dose of solu-cortef when used for anaphylaxis, asthma and COPD?
100-500 mg IV/IO IM
What is the paediatric dose for solu-cortef when used for anaphylaxis?
2-4 mg/kg/day IV/IO IM (max 500mg)
