Airway Clearance Flashcards
Autogenic Drainage
Unsticking phase: breathe in through nose at low lung volumes with a 2-3 sec hold, then max exhale.
Collecting phase: normal breathing, breath hold
Evacuation phase: deeper inhales, breath hold, huff on exhale.
Not appropriate for children
Active Cycles of Breathing
3 phases: breathing control, thoracic expansion, forced expiration
Breathing control: normal, relaxed breathing
Thoracic expansion: 3-4 slow max inhales
Forced expiration: 1-2 huffs during expiration
