Class Alpha
Dimensions: 18,000ft MSL - FL600
Entry requirements:
Instrument rating and IFR flight plan IFR equipped aircraft
Mode C transponder, two-way radio Altimeter setting: 29.92”

Class Bravo
Dimensions: SFC - 10,000ft MSL (shaped as an upside down wedding cake)
Entry requirements:
Explicit clearance: “cleared into bravo airspace” Mode C transponder within veil, two-way radio Private pilot or student pilot with endorsement
Visibility: 3SM
Depiction on chart: solid blue line
Class Charlie
Dimensions:
Inner core: 5NM from SFC to 4,000ft AGL (The height is in AGL, but on the chart it’s on MSL)
Outer shelf: 10NM from 1,200ft to 4,000ft AGL
Outer area: 20NM (not depicted on charts, pilots are not required to contact ATC, but is good practice).
Cloud clearance: 500ft below; 1,000ft above; 2,000ft horizontal Visibility: 3SM
Depiction on chart: solid magenta line
Entry requirements:
Establish two-way communication (listen for tail number) Mode C transponder within and above 10,000ft MSL (§91.215) Student pilot
Class Delta
Dimensions: SFC to 2,500ft AGL, 4NM radius Entry requirements:
Establish two-way communication (listen for tail number), but unlike in class B we may enter without any clearance. → same as class C (3-2-5 AIM)

Class Echo
Dimensions:
– 4NM radius
– SFC, 700ft or 1,200ft AGL, 14,500ft to 17,999ft MSL or overlying airspace
– Above FL600
● Entry requirements: Student pilot; No radio needed
● Cloud clearance:
– 10,000ft MSL: 1,000ft below, 1,000ft above and 1SM horizontal
● Visibility:
– 10,000ft MSL: 5SM;
● Depiction on chart: Echo airspace changes with altitude:
– Start from SFC: mostly around an airport → dashed magenta line
– Start from 700ft: mostly airspace in the vicinity of an airport; first SFC Echo, then 700ft (below 700ft is golf airspace) → shaded magenta line
Start from 1,200ft → shaded blue line
Class Golf
Dimensions:
– SFC to overlying airspace
– Extends from SFC to 14,500ft MSL including at and below 1,200ft AGL
● Entry requirements: ATC does not have authority nor responsibility to exercise control of traffic within G-Airspace
● Cloud clearance:
– ≤ 1,200ft AGL: clear of clouds
– > 1,200ft AGL - 1,200ft AGL - > 10,000ft MSL: 1,000ft below, 1,000ft above and 1SM horizontal
● Visibility:
– ≤ 1,200ft AGL: see and avoid
– > 1,200ft AGL - 1,200ft AGL - > 10,000ft MSL: 5SM
