Airplane Systems and Insturements Flashcards
What type of errors an altimeter is subjected to?
1) Mechanical erros 2) Inherent erros High pressure to low pressure (true altitude will be lower) Low Pressure to high pressure (true altitude will be higher)
Airspeed errors
1) Position eror (slip stream) 2) Density eror change in altitude and temperature is not compensated 3) Compressibility eror (when speed is more than 180)
Indicated Airspeed (IAS)
What you see on the instrument
True Airspeed (TAS)
Corrected speed for non-standard pressure and temperature
Groundspeed (GS)
Speed on the ground
Calibrated Airspeed (CAS)
indicated airspeed corrected for instrument and position error.
