How do you shut off crew oxygen?
Pressing RESET/TEST button when doors are closed. Closing left panel door disables mask mic.
What altitude do cabin oxygen masks drop?

How long does cabin oxygen lasts, and what pressure are they charged too?
12 minutes, 1800PSI (slightly less than cockpit).
What are the 4 APU indicating lights?
DOOR, LOW OIL PRESSURE, FAULT and OVERSPEED.
How long does FAULT and OVERSPEED light stay illuminated after APU shutdown?
5 minutes after OFF.
What causes APU DOOR light to illuminate? (3)
- shutdown & door still open
- Inflight and not in flight position (17^) at liftoff
- Ground and not in ground position (45*)
What altitudes can the APU operate too? (3)
FL100 - Bleed + Electric
FL170 - Bleed
FL410 - Electric
What power is used to start the APU? (3)
AC. AC XFR BUS1 or BATT.
When will the APU GEN OFF BUS illuminate?
Once APU RPM above 95%. Once one selected on powers both AC XFR Buses through BTB, and illuminates other SOURCE light.
What controls APU speed?
Electronic Fuel Control Unit. 400Hz.
What happens when the APU EGT gets too hot? (Before start, during start, inflight)
Load sheds. During start, electrical load shed before bleed air. Any other time, bleed is reduced by Compressor Variable Guide Vanes before Electrical.
What will happen to APU if the Battery is switched off?
APU will shutdown both on ground and inflight.
When will the APU automatically shutdown? (5)
LOW OIL PRESSURE
FAULT light - fuel valve not shut in 30 seconds.

How do the boost pumps ensure redundancy?
Two per tank, powered by separate AC XFR BUS’s.
Can centre tank feed main tanks?
Centre tank can scavenge into Main Tank 1 if FWD pump on and Tank 1 is under half full.
Where is NGS air supplied from?
Supplied by bleed air from left side of pneumatic manifold.

What causes FUEL master caution to illuminate? (Pump) (2)
Both individual main tank fuel pumps indicating low pressure. If only one, illuminates on RECALL, unless it’s the only pump ON.
Centre tank, 1 LP light will illuminate master caution after 10 seconds.
What is crossfeed valve powered from?
Powered by BATT BUS.

At what quantity will INSUFFICIENT FUEL illuminate?
900kg and below at destination.

Where is the Fuel Tank temperature indicator? What are the max/min fuel temperatures?

When will fuel LOW illumination appear on PEID? When will this extinguish?
Fuel quantity less than 907kg in either tank. (Inhibited on ground)

When would CONFIG appear on fuel display? (Centre tank)
One engine running and BOTH centre tank pumps OFF, and quantity above 726kg.
When would CONFIG extinguish with regards to centre tank pumps? (3)
- One centre pump on
- Both engines shutdown
- Centre tank quantity under 363kg
When would IMBAL appear? When would it extinguish?
Main tanks difference of 453kg
Continues until on ground or imbalance below 91kg.

FMC, using TAT.
What displays if FMC is unable to calculate N1 limit?
A/T Lim. Indicates a single degraded N1 limit being calculated from EEC.
What will happen if thrust is more/less than commanded?
N1 arc will turn Amber & flash for 10 seconds, then THRUST steady illuminated.
Blinking inhibited 80kts to 400’ RA, or 200’ RA until 30 seconds after landing.
What does the amber maximum N1 value represent?
N1 value for full rates thrust, computed by EEC.
When does N1 dial go red?
Maximum operating N1 exceeded.
Red returns after shutdown.
When will the temporary red maximum on the EGT extinguish on start?
66%N2 RPM
What marks does the engine EGT have after start? (2)
Red - Max EGT
Amber - Max CONT EGT
When will EGT illuminate Amber?
If maximum CONT EGT exceeded for 5 minutes.

Can the HMU function independently of the EEC?
No. EEC meters fuel through HMU.
How many channels does the EEC have, and how do they operate?
Two channel computer (A+B). Independent and connected to identify failures.
Chooses one as active, changes on each start.
What powers the EEC?
Powered by AC XFR BUS1 until 15%N2. After, dual redundant EEC generators.
What modes does the EEC have? (3)
- Normal - sensed flight conditions.
- Soft Alternate - EEC automatically selects ALT mode. Uses last known flight conditions.
- Hard Alternate - ALT mode manually selected, or AUTO when EEC selects ALTM and thrust levers are at idle.
What is hard alternate thrust equal too?
Equal to greater than normal thrust for same lever position. Max thrust could be exceeded.
What does ALT mode selection illuminate? (2)
Master Caution & ENG. ALTN lights on EEC switch.
What does EEC provide protection too?
Redline protection to N1 and N2 in all modes.
What doesn’t EEC provide protection too?
No EGT protection.
What is Thrust Control Malfunction Accommodation (TCMA)?
EEC function that protects against high asymmetric thrust on GROUND. Shuts off fuel flow to affected engine.
What is Electronic Overspeed Protection (EOS)
Protection against exceedance of engine structural design. Detects uncontrollable N2 speed, shuts off fuel to affected engine.
When will Amber REVERSER COMMAND light illuminate?
If reverse lever not down inflight.
When will ENGINE CONTROL illuminate? When is it inhibited?
Faults that cannot be dispatched. Inhibited inflight.
What does REVERSER LIMITED mean?
Fault in reverser system. Reverse will either not deploy or be limited to idle on landing.
How many fuel pumps in engine, and where?
- After Spar SOV, N2 accessory fuel pump.
- After filter then onto HMU.
What is engine oil displayed as?
Quantity is shown as a percentage on the MFD.
When is it normal for engine OIL PRESSURE to illuminate? (2)
When oil is warm, or engine at idle power.
At what PSI will engine LOW OIL PRESSURE light illuminate?
13PSI.
What are the igniters powered by?
IGN L powered by AC XFR BUS, IGN R powered by AC STANDBY BUS.
How is the engine start valve controlled and operated?
Electrically controlled, pneumatically operated.
How is starter powered?
Pneumatic
What rotates N2 shaft during start?
Turbine starter
When is normal starter cutout?
63%N2
Can you start without AC power?
Yes, must hold GRD in position until 63%N2.
How do you stop a wet start?
IGN OFF & Fuel Cutoff, 15 seconds after start lever idle. (NO EGT RISE)
What does EEC provide protection against during start? (3)
Hot start, EGT start limit & wet starts. If EGT exceeds maximum, auto shuts off ignition & fuel SOV.
When is reversers selectable? (2)
Below 10’ RA (on one), or air/ground sensor on ground.
What is the reverse auto-stow system?
Opens ISOL valve inflight and moves control valves to stow. Hydraulically held until on ground.
What can cause master caution when selecting reverse on landing?
Pause of 8 seconds after moving levers past first detent. Prevents further deployment.
MAINT light 30 seconds after landing.
Above what level is APU not guaranteed to start?
FL250
For what can an IDG automatically disconnect from engine?
High oil temperature.
Can APU warn of an overheat?
No, only fire.
