Aircraft General Flashcards
How many pallet locations are there?
12, 11 if an engine is loaded
What is the wingspan (800)?
117’5”
What is the length (800)?
129’6”
What is the tail height (800)?
41’2”
What is the required turn radius (in feet) for a 180 degree turn?
79.7 ft
What is the largest obstacle from the turn point?
Wing tip - 75.3 feet.
What is the steering angle?
78 degrees
What is the effective turn degree?
75 degrees
What is located on the Control Stand?
Forward Electronics Panel, Thrust Lever Quadrant, and AFT Electronics Panel
Which windows can be opened?
#2 windows (move inward and aft when opened) Window 2L and 2R can be opened from inside. Window 2R can also be opened from the outside.
These are the flight deck emergency exits! Escape straps are provided for each window.
Which cockpit windows are electrically heated?
All 6 of them.
How to position pilot seat?
Adjust to see along the top of the glareshield to the aircraft nose then:
sight over the control column until the bottom of the outboard display is visible then:
sight under the lightshield to view the A/P - A/T -FMC lights panel.
What happens when the correct code is entered on the Flight Deck Emergency Access Panel (located on the supernumerary side of the flight deck door)?
A chime sounds. A red light means the door is locked.
Amber means the correct code was entered.
Green light means the door is unlocked.
What happens when the Flight Deck Access Switch is positioned to OFF?
Electrical power is removed from the door lock. (Switch should be in the NORM position during flight).
When will the LOCK FAIL light illuminate on the Flight Deck Door Lock selector?
When the Flight Deck Door Lock selector is in AUTO and the door lock has failed.
Or when the Flight Deck Access System switch is OFF.
When will the AUTO UNLK light illuminate on the Flight Deck Door Lock selector?
When the correct code was entered in the keypad. The light flashes and a continuous chime sounds until the time expires. If no action is taken by the crew, the door unlocks.
What is the default position of the FLT DK Door Lock selector?
AUTO (spring loaded to AUTO)
What happens when the position of the FLT DK Door Lock selector is rotated to UNLK?
Unlocks the flight deck door.
What happens when the position of the FLT DK Door Lock selector is rotated to DENY?
Rejects the keypad code and prevents further code entry for a time period (several minutes).
How many cargo compartments are there?
3: Main deck, Forward Lower, Aft Lower
Explain the compartment doors
Plug type, hinged at the top, open inward, can be operated from inside or outside the aircraft. Each door has 4 latches (2 locking) and a balance mechanism which allows the door to be opened with little effort until it engages the mechanical lock. Bungee lanyard is used to lower the door.
Are the lower compartments pressurized or non-pressurized? Are they sealed? Why or why not?
Pressurized. And sealed (no fresh air circulation or temperature control). Compartment pressure is maintained nearly equal to the cabin by pressure equalization valves in the aft bulkhead of each compartment. The valves only let enough air flow into or out of the compartments to keep the pressures nearly the same as cabin pressure.
The lower cargo compartments are Class C: designed to completely confine a fire without endangering the safety of the airplane or its occupants.
What protects the aircraft in event of a rapid depressurization?
Blow out panels installed in the compartments provide pressure relief at a greater rate than the pressure equalization valve in case the airplane pressurization is lost.
The Main Deck Cargo Door is operated by which system?
opened with a hydraulic actuator powered from Hydraulic System A. Hydraulic power may be supplied using either a hydraulic ground cart or the aircraft’s electric motor pump.
The cargo door can be opened manually using a pump to supply hydraulic pressure for the actuator.
