How may you bring out important details of a part in aircraft drawing?
A detail view draw to a larger scale.
Describe information found in the title block of blue print:
Drawing size, Part or assembly name, Scale, Date, Drafsman, Film, Checker, Approving Official.
Describe bill of materials:
A list of materials and parts necessary to fabricate or assemble a component or system.
What is the difference between an ALLOWANCE and a TOLERANCE used on aircraft blueprints?
Allowance – Is the DIFFERENCE between the nominal dimension and the maximum and minimum permissible sizes.
Tolerance – The SUM of the (+) and (-) alowance figures.
Define clearance as used on aircraft blueprints.
Clearance is a dimension allowable between parts.
What is an orthographic projection?
It is a way of drawing an object using different views such as (top, front and side view).
What might one-view drawings represent in aircraft blueprints?
Objects of uniform thickness, gaskets, shims and plates.
One, two and three view drawings are commonly used for:
Showing a shape of an object.
What type of diagram would a mechanic use for troubleshooting?
Schematic diagrams.
How are dimension lines show on aircraft drawings?
Solid lines broken at midpoint for the insertion of measurements.
Where is the revision block normally located?
Adjacent to the title block or at top RH corner.
How are aircraft drawing changes identified?
Changes are usually listed as revisions.
How can you determine if a drawing has been changed?
A record of the changes is listed either in a revision block or in ruled columms which may be in a corner of the drawing or next to the title block.

Alternate long and short dashes
Describe a phantom line
