Q

T4

A

amplify response to infection, regulate t cell proliferation, help mediate cytotoxic and suppressor cell function and helps b cells produce antibodies
effects helper and inducer

Q

pneumocystis cariniipneumonia

A

airborne, opportunistic infection of lungs that occurs in 60% of AIDS pt; mortality of 50-60% with repeat infections; doesn’t effect immuno-competent; attaches to alveolar walls, reproduces in alveolar spaces, right to left shunting, increased fluid; looks like ARDS; not always bilateral; shouldn’t have an initiating event; low grade fever
