What were staple foods of Ancient China?
Wheat, corn, sorghum (sorghum is a grass crop related to sugar cane), millet, soybeans, rice, and tea.
What did agriculture play a big role in in Proper China?
Economic$. $$$
Why is the muddy plain along the Yellow River well suited to agriculture?
The soil is replenished by the build up carried down by the river.
Why did farmers allow fish to swim among the rice stalks?
They provide another source of food, they look nice, and they eat bad mosquito larvae. (Go farmers!)
Where was tea the most widely grown?
Southern Proper China.
What type of area was tea grown in?
Hilly regions.
What rivers ran through China?
Two great rivers run through China Proper: the Yellow River in the north, and the Yangtze (or Yangzi ) River to the south. Also the much smaller Xi river. (Poor Xi River no one respects it) :-(
