Yes, but only after no-drug approaches have been tried e.g. use of distraction, seclusion and attempting to talk to the patient
If sedation is required, what should be used?
Benzodiazepines, not just an increased does of antipsychotics
Whats the lowest possible dose of an antipyschotic?
At least a 2 week trial
What antipsychotic should be used?
One that the patient and/or carer prefer
A decision based on the patients age, weight, physical health
What kind of antipsychotic is usually used first line?
Atypical
What can be used with as treatment resisrant illness?
Clozapine

Lithium
