They are extremely active, need frequent rest periods, large muscle groups are more developed than fine, eyesight suffers with focusing on small objects, their skull bones are fairly soft, and they don’t demonstrate any physical gender differences.
What are the social characteristics of Pre-K & Kindergarten children?
At this age they may have one or two best friends, but that changes frequently, and play is an important aspect of their development.
What are the emotional characteristics of Pre-K & Kindergarten children?
They express their emotions openly and freely, especially anger. Jealousy is common as each child seeks teacher approval and attention.

More selective in choice of friends, most have a permanent best friend, typically same-sex friendships, like organized games with rules, words used more than physical aggression to solve quarrels

Sensitivity to criticism and ridicule, eager to please teacher, more sensitive to the feelings of others
What are the cognitive characteristics of Primary Grades children?
Understanding that there are different ways to know things and that some ways are better than others, they have control over learning and recall, not as efficient in learning as older children, peak of talking to themselves

Boys and girls become leaner and stronger, obesity can begin to be a problem if not enough physical activity is provided, gender differences in motor skill performance are apparent, physical development is calmer and more predictable
