what is the influence of gov. laws/ legislation?
restrictions on:
- what can be fed to cattle
- transportation
- requirements for living conditions - (e.g. chickens need A4 sized room per chicken)
How does gov. control supply?
Input restrictions - control levels of land/ water (e.g. amount of irrigation carried out)
- transpacific partnerships - international trades
- funding for drought relief
- subsides to the costs of inputs and price paid for beef
what is catchment management authority?
Organisations established by the state government (there are 13)
- CMA’s work in partnership with community
- develop catchment action plans to guide future management
What is Landcare?
a large non-profit organisation that acts as a national network to sustain land and natural resources
- promoting ‘Landcare’ farming - conservation methods (conservative tillage)
- planting tree’s
- rivercare - improved waterways
