Scopes Trial in 1925
tennessee banned the teaching of evolution in public schools. Teacher John T. Scopes challenged the ban and was arrested and fined $100. Showed the clash of modern vs. traditional beliefs.
Effects of WW1
Jobs for soldiers in short supply because there was less demand so workers, especially women, were laid off had pay cuts or had longer hours. there were a lot of strikes.
Villains of war
People viewed Germans as villains, Russians and communists, and South and Eastern Europeans as the main cause. They were anti-immigration and employers used communism to cut pay.
