COM 1 active, local Freq (CYCC Radio) 122.775
COM 1 stdby, after T/O terminal Freq (CYOW term) 127.7
NAV 1 active, enrout Nav Aid (YOW VOR) 114.6
NAV 1 stdby, ILS at first destination (ILS 32 CYOW) 110.3
COM 2 active, ATIC for 1st destination (CYOW ATIS) 121.15
COM 2 stdby, ATIS for return (KMSS ATIS) 128.075
NAV 2 active, same as NAV 1 114.6
NAV 2 stdby, same as NAV 1 110.3
Set ADB if applicable (YRR NDB) 377
Call for IFR Clearance
After clearance readback set transponder code
Load Flight Plan
CYCC-YOW-CYCC
Load emergency return Approach
Approach is for the SAME rwy that was used for T/O.
Verify approach is loaded properly by scrolling through the waypoints
Perform T/O briefing from Airport chart or SID chart
set Heading bug outbound Course on HSI
Taxi out
Perform Instrument Checks
Turn and bank, Ball, HSI, AI, VSI and Compass
i.e Wing left, ball right, DI decreasing, AI and VSI stady and Compass free and moving
Before Take-off
Record time for Bingo time
After Take-off
Track outbound when altitude permits or as per clearance.
When instructed to proceed on course you must intercept the radial and not go Direct To.
Advice CYCC radio that you are leaving the area.
Instructor or Examiner will instruct you when to change to next frequency.
Level Off
Perform Cruise Check.
Listen to ATIS for next destination.
Based on ATIS decide on approach to be used and,
Brief the Approach
Tune and Identify long range nav aids (VOR and ADF)
Load Approach in Garmin 430
When reporting to terminal area controller
Report:
Aircraft ident
Altitude
ATIS info
i.e: Piper Seminole CF-GKD at 3000’ with ATIS information “C”
ATC will ask to Squak and intentions
If the case of an ILS approach with radar vectors
Upon receiving radar vectors:
Select ILS frequency
Identify
set VLOC
set final approach Course (for NAV1 and NAV2)
activate approach
Follow instructions to fly the approach. Proceed as per profile shown at Figure 1
On return to CYCC, repeat procedure as above
Cruise check
Listen to ATIS
Brief Approach
and Load approach in Garmin 430
When given a hold verify that it does not exceed the bingo time
Determine type of entry and first heading outbound
Use OBS Button as applicable
(EOSAFE)
