President of Egypt during the 1970s. He tried to boost economy and reach out to other nations.
He over threw King Farouk in 1952 with Nasser. He served as th of Nasser until 1970 when he became a President. He regained the Sinai Peninsula from Israel in the Yo, Kippur War of 1973. Israel had occupied the Sinai Peninsula since th Six Days War in 1967.
