Difference between Affirmative Action and Anti-Discrimination Law
Anti-discrimination law seeks to eliminate negatives, Affirmative Action seeks to establish something positive

Compensation for past discrimination - rare
Consent degrees can use aggressive methods
2 Situations for Consent Degrees
Employer found guilty of discrimination and ordered to develop/implement AAP
Result of discrimination suit brought by EEOC
Executive Order 11246
If employer is government contractor with contract of $50,000 or more, they must take positive steps to increase representation of women and minorities - assuming they’re underrepresented
