Aerospace Physiology Flashcards
Atmosphere with moisture content
Troposphere
Atmosphere of space
Exosphere
What is barometric pressure
Combined weight of all gases in the atmosphere on earth
As warm air rises barometric pressure
falls
Absolute altitude
Height of object compared to ground below it
Boyles law
At constant temp volume of gas is inversely proportional to the pressure it’s subjected
Dalton’s law
In mix of gases, the total pressure exerted by the mixture is equal to the sum of the pressure each gas would be in a given enclosure
Henry’s law
Amount of gas dissolved in given liquid that doesn’t chemically combine it will be directly proportional to the partial pressure of the gas above the liquid
Charles law
Volume and pressure of gas varies w/temp
Hypoxia hypoxia
Decrease oxygen pressure with inspired air within lungs -low pressure
Hypericum hypoxia
Less then normal hemoglobin, no air supply to the lungs - blood loss, carbon monoxide
Hisotoxic hypoxia
Cells can’t use oxygen bc high levels of toxins, -drug or booze
Stagnant hypoxia
Decreased blood flow, stagnant hypoxia
Hypoxia effects on respiratory
Increased in rate/depth
What causes hyperventilation
Excessive loss of c02
