Aerodynamics Flashcards
1
Q
What is Daniel Bernoulli theory on what holds in aircraft in the air.
A
The “Bernoulli” theory that lift is generated by a pressure difference across the wing. Elaboration: The high air pressure underneath the wings will therefore push the aircraft up through the lower air pressure.

Q
What is Isaac Newton theory on what holds in aircraft in the air.
A
The “Newton” positions that lift is the reaction force on a body caused by deflecting a flow of gas. Elaboration: Lift occurs when a moving flow of air is turned by a solid object. The flow is turned in one direction, and the lift is generated in the opposite direction, according to Newton’s Third Law of action and reaction.
