Aerial Operation Flashcards
Jackknife Warning Buzzer
first buzzer at 65 degrees, second at 80 degrees
Aerial ladder is made of
all rectangular tubular steel, welded construction.
Handrails?
15”
Rungs
1 1/2” diameter K braced rungs
Rung spacing
14” on center
Retracted length
31.8”
Extended length
94’
Never operate aerial on the same side as
the short jack outrigger
Stay ___ from power lines
10 feet
Do no operate with ladder elevated in wind conditions exceeding ___
30 mph
Full, rated capacities are allowable on grades up too
6% or 3.5 degrees
Half, rated capacities on grades between _____
6% to 14% or 3.5 to 8 degrees.
Fast Idle Switch
1500-1600 RPM
Interlock Override Switch
Allows the jack cylinder to be lowered to the going with the beam being fully extended. SHORT JACK
Manual Circuit Selector/ Blocking solenoid
In the event of an electrical failure, this allows hydraulic fluid to the outrigger valve bank and aerial controls.
Inclinometer
A floating ball typer angle indicator calibrated from -20 to 80 degrees.
Swing drive system
Made up a of gear reduction drive powered by a hydraulic motor. controls the braking of the aerial
Aerial Extension Indicators
Located along the handrails of the main section are extension indicators marked off in 5 foot increments.
At the tip of the inner mid section is a red tape indicator
when it is lined up with one of the main section indicators, the length in feet that the ladder is extended can be determined
Extension Gauge Control
When the aerial is extended, a small wire connected to the tip of the inner mid section is pulled out of the this unit. the movement is transferred to the extension gauge located on the pedestal.
Greatest reach is attained?
Over the side
Best stability is?
over the rear, defined as angles up to and including 45 degrees to either side of the apparatus centerline.
Intercom system
is handsfree, has no controls to operate when communicating or listening
Lubing aerial ladder
Hoist ladder to 60 degrees and then retract, Fifth wheel 60 degrees to left and 60 degrees to the right
