advanced (kinda) microscopy techniques Flashcards
what is Phase contrast
it allows you to observe smaller cellular structures without staining the sample. this allows you to view living specimens.
what is differential interference contrast microscopy
allows you to see contours and an almost 3d image. It works by polarising light so it hits the specimen at two different angles.
what is wide field fluorescence microscopy
allows you to view fluorescent molecules whilst omitting the rest of the picture by omitting certain light frequencies. you can even view different fluorescent molecules at once.
what is confocal laser scanning microscopy
allows you to see spacial relationships between structures. It gives a 3d view of the specimen
