Adult Post-Resuscitation Care 2021 Flashcards
Post resus care: Airway and Breathing
Maintain 94-98%
Advanced airway
Waveform capnography
Ventilate to normocapnia
Post resus care: Circulation
12 lead ECG
IV access
SBP > 100mmHg
Fluids (crystalloid) until normovolaemia
Intra-arterial blood pressure monitoring
Consider vasopressor/inotrope to maintain BP
Post resus care: Temperature
Constant temperature 32 - 26 degrees Celsius
Sedate to control shivering (if needed)
If likely cardiac cause then
look for ST elevation and consider coronary angiogram +/- PCI
If ST Elevation was cause then
Coronary angiogram +/- PCI
If cardiac cause identified
Admit ICU
If not likely cardiac cause
- Consider CT brain / CT pulmonary angiogram
- Treat non-cardiac cause
- Admit ICU
ICU Management
Temp: 32-26 degrees
Normoxia + normocapnia (protective ventilation)
Avoid hypotension
Echo
Normoglycaemia
Diagnose and treat seizures
Delay prognostication
Then secondary prevention
