ADS-B Flashcards
What should we do if we get a STBY in red on the ground?
select ALT XPDR mode if required
what should we do if we get a STBY in amber in flight?
select ALT XPDR mode
what should we do if we get an altitude indication unsafe or ALT in amber?
- select other XPDR if available
or
- press ADC REVERT button
- if still unsafe or ALT in amber inform ATC
- select XPDR mode ON on RCU
What does the system consist of?
1 diversity ADS-B independent mode S transponder with one top antenna and one bottom antenna
what is the system protected by?
XPDR 1: ESS BUS
XPDR 2: BUS 2
When does the ADS-B transmit?
at all times when in any mode except standby
at what frequency does the ADS-B receive interrogations?
1090 and 1030mhz
at what frequency does the ADS-B transmit replies?
1090mhz
what do we mean when we say the transponder has antenna diversity capability?
contains 2 independent RF receiver channels which allow both top and bottom interrogations and ADS-B output to be monitored simultaneously.
what is the transponder defined as?
class 3A transponder with TCAS or airborne data link processor systems capability
how is altitude reporting in mode C achieved?
pressure altitude signal is processed from the ADC to the transponder for transmission to the interrogation statio
what controls the mode-S transponder?
RCU located on the pedestal panel
when does transponder operation begin?
when avionics master is switched on
what is STBY mode is selected?
reply/transmit is disabled, but other internal processes such as BIT continue
what will the transponder transmit in any mode except STBY?
MODE S and squitter including aircraft status
